Spanish term or phrase: protagonizarán la salida
A text about a triathlon race in Galicia. The title says:

"Outeiro y Estribela protagonizarán la salida del 1º Triatlón UCGT".

I'm looking for an expression that reflects 'protagonizar' faithfully, as expressions like 'kick off', 'start', 'set off' and the like don't reflect the idea that these neighbourhoods will take centre stage at the start of the race. And of course, literal translations such as 'star' don't work.

TIA.

Thanks, Frankowro.

agree  Charles Davis: This expression is good, but I'm confused. There are several Outeiros but they're all a long way from Estribela, on the coast of Pontevedra. Must refer to different stages? Maybe your second suggestion would be best.

Explanation:
Just another option to get a bit of the theatrical sense of protagonizar in there for you.
But I do prefer Frankowro's answer, think it's best overall although I have some reservations about stages because of its use for the big cycling races, where it's just the chosen name for one day of racing.
Wonder if phases would work better/as an alternative for triathlon, since the competition does feature different skills.
