(divided by 1) Explanation: This is not my area of specialty, so take this with a grain of salt, but looking at the PDF reference this seems pretty clear. In the first example of a prescription, the total amount of pills/capsules/etc. for the day is given. In this case, the 分# means that this total should be divided into # portions. In your example, both 分1 and 1日1回 are used, which are effectively the same. I would translate your example as something like "once daily, after breakfast". If you also had the number of caps/tabs/pills you could say "# pills, once daily after breakfast". Reference: http://www.mhlw.go.jp/shingi/2009/09/dl/s0914-5b.pdf |

Once daily Explanation: The meaning is literally 'divided into one dose', and hence means 'once a day'. 分2 is 'divided into two doses', i.e. two doses a day. The abbreviations for divided doses are as below, but I prefer to write in full. s.i.d = once a day b.i.d = twice a day t.i.d = three times a day q.i.d = four times a day http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_abbreviations_used_in_m... |
