Phénomène économique classique où la croissance d'un marché, d'un titre ou d'un pays a été si forte qu'elle se traduit par une hausse généralisée des prix.

Pour éviter toute surchauffe néfaste pour l'économie, les banques centrales peuvent jouer sur le niveau des taux d'intérêt.

En augmentant les taux, les investissements des entreprises et l'endettement des particuliers se réduira naturellement, et donc limitera la croissance de l'activité.

Une croissance trop forte peut conduire à une inflation forte qui sera dure à stopper dans le temps.
