German to English Law/Patents Law: Contract(s)
Dieser Vertrag wird in 2 gleichwertigen Exemplaren in deutscher und bulgarischer Version, je 1 für jede der Vertragsparteien angefertigt.

This contract is drawn up in two equivalent versions in German and Bulgarian, and 1 version will be handed out to each contracting party.??

Vielen Dank!

Hi Wendy, Oops, only noticed the unnecessary "a" in the sentence. Of course that does not belong there at all. I'm actually not sure myself if you can add any more comments in the peer section.
Wendy Streitparth Jul 6, 2012:
@ Elizabeth: Ah - original copy, yes I'd agree to that. It was the additional "a" that caused the misunderstanding. Afraid I don't know how to add comments to comments on answers. Anyone going to help me?

issued in two copies with identical content ......

....and go on to say - one version (copy) in the English and one version (copy) in the Bulgarian language.
Sometimes we may need to lengthen a sentence to make it absolutely clear.

Thank yu, Miriam.
agree BrigitteHilgner : "to make it absolutely clear" is so important, especially if a contract is meant for people whose native language is NOT English.

Peer comment(s):

agree Wendy Streitparth : I guess you were suggesting original/copy as options?

Thank you Wendy, original copy is often used in legal context and highlights the fact that both copies have the same (equal) legal value
neutral writeaway : duplicate is misleading. same prob as identical. duplicate copies and two different languages?
1 hr
Duplicate is the same as "zweifache Ausfertigung". It just means that two copies are prepared but each is legally valid.

two identical copies (of the contract) will be drawn up

Two identical copies of the contract will be drawn up, one in German and one in Bulgarian ...........
Example sentence:

Two identical copies of the contract will be drawn up.

Peer comment(s):

neutral writeaway : hard to be identical if they are in 2 different languages

two exually valid documents with identical content, one in..

I would avoid "copies" because it is misleading, equally there cannot be two "originals", or two identical documents if they are in different languages.
