This is a brochure about asphalt pavers and digging machines. The text says "Follows grade on one side, slope on the other". How do I translate the terms "grade" and "slope"? Both can be traslated as "helling" but obviously here a distinction should be made. Thanks for your help.

Volgens Wikipedia zijn beide termen synoniem (in normaal taalgebruik): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grade_(slope)
Maar zou hier niet bedoeld worden dat de 'grade' het langzaam op- of aflopen van de weg is (1 meter verderop is de weg een paar centimeter hoger/lager), terwijl de 'slope' verwijst naar het verschijnsel dat het midden van de weg iets hoger wordt aangelegd dan de zijkanten? (Eventueel 'slope' en 'grade' omwisselen?)
Het komt er dus op neer dat de ene helling vooruit/achteruit gemeten wordt, en de andere links/rechts.
Een alternatief voor talud is beloop.

: talud is een veel steilere dwarshelling zoals dwars op het weglichaam.

het klopt dat het talud niet gelijk is aan de lichte links/rechts-helling die ik hierboven beschreef. maar in de context van deze (graaf)machine, die met zijn wielen/rupsbanden aan één kant de 'slope' volgt, wordt misschien wel degelijk 'talud' bedoeld.
