analysis of the existing (system/situation/processes)
as a former business analyst I am certain about this! Which word you use at the end depends on the immediate context. If the system is to replace an existing one, then existing system. If no system yet in use, then existing situation... or processes if it is not clear what they currently do/not have
Note from asker:
In fact the problem is with the words( system/situation/processes). None of these terms will match a group of software used for a specific task... or am I wrong |

analysis of the current system
This doesn't work in English without a noun at the end of the phrase.

Or, if the antecedent is clear, analysis of the current one

I you can't abide "current system," then I would advise "installed system."

: In practice, some parts of the system in place will need to be replaced precisely because they are not "current". :-) // Exactly -- not "current" technology.

You mean that the current system is not up to date?

assessment of existing sofware
As an alternative for analysis; fyi I think "assessment" is a common term used in business process/project management vocabulary...my feeling is that "assessment" is more business-sounding and "analysis" more scientific/technical, so it depends on your context. I used to be a project manager in IT so this is just my perspective based on my own experience. You could also call it "baseline assessment" of existing software if the implication is that you are going to use this as a benchmark against which to compare future assessments.
