The girl, when you really know her as a human being, isn't able to live up to the feeling, and you get turned off and pull away.
This has been my issue historically, and I believe something like this happens in most relationships. There are a fortunate few who claim to be just as yippy-dippy-skippy about each other at year 70 as at year 1, but IMO these are the exception, not the rule. The challenge is for me (who isn't really a yippy-dippy-skippy guy anyway) to find a way to allow the feeling to mature into something solid and comforting, rather than resentment for not being what it was.
