I think it means "to express any reservations"

- but I don't know why the verb is "prendre".

I have also seen in similar texts ""To take the necessary precautions" but this does not really match the phrase here

I think it means that if there is a problem with the goods, the recipient should take this up with the transport company, not the manufacturer.

Back translation? Could your text have been previously translated from English? This might explain "prendre les réserves" as a (bad) translation of "take the necessary precautions"...
