En una nota de prensa sobre trastorno bipolar dice:

"La enfermedad **tiene un alto costo familiar, social y personal**.

No menciona más nada sobre este aspecto en el resto del texto. No he oído sobre "family cost", por lo que se me dificulta expresar la oración usando "cost". Hasta los momentos tengo estas opciones:

The illness has a social and personal cost and is hard on the family.

The illness is hard on the family, the friends (the relationships?) and on the patients themself

Quisiera escribir una expresión más uniforme, ya sea usando "cost" o adaptándola a "hard on..." o cualquier otra expresión que suene natural en inglés y transmita el sentido.
