der Begriff taucht öfter in meinem Text auf, aber bis jetzt ist es mir noch nicht gelungen, herauszufinden, was mit "market color" gemeint sein könnte. Weiß vielleicht jemand eine deutsche Übersetzung dafür? Könnte es vielleicht so etwas wie Marktrichtung oder Markttendenz sein?

Man kann es in etwa mit Insidertipps vergleichen, allerdings bewegt sich "market color" in einer rechtlichen Grauzone und ist nicht grundsätzlich illegal. Der große Unterschied zu Insidertipps ist, dass die Insidertipps eine spezielle Transaktion betreffen, "market color" bezieht sich auf die Entwicklung eines Marktes allgemein.

Dieser Vorschlag beruht auf dem ersten Link von Jana (daher gerne die Punkte an sie, wenn das hier gefällt).

Dort heißt es:
"Galleon, .... at the centre of an insider trading scandal, is reported to have paid Wall Street banks £151m a year to receive this market colour. It allegedly pressed its contacts at banks for tips on market developments. By gathering various pieces of chatter and noise it was able to piece together a better picture of the market. It was the ability to decode what it was hearing that apparently gave Galleon its investment 'edge'.
Is it allowed?
Ironically, market colour is a grey area. It is obviously different to insider dealing.

Whether it concerns market regulators rather depends on what the information is, how it was passed on, whether people could rely upon it to make a decision and ....

Für Galleon gälte sogar:
"Schmieren, gewisse Leute zum Reden bringen* und die Gerüchteküche abschöpfen/auswerten".

*zum Reden bringen: das wären Korruptionsgelder (Geld für Info) und u.U. auch Androhung von Gewalt oder negativen Konsequenzen.

PS.: Du fragst ja ganz konkret nach 'market color'. Das sind diese "Wolken" von Gerüchten als Wahrheiten, Halbwahrheiten und Unwahrheiten, die durch Information, Desinformation, aus denen in der Meinung der Fachwelt (nicht in der öffentlichen Meinung) ein bestimmtes vorherrschendes Bild zu einem Sachverhalt oder Objekt entsteht.

Kurz formuliert kenne ich kein Äquivalent auf Deutsch für 'market color'; 1:1 = Marktfarbe bietet sich m.E. nicht an.
