German term

Baggern

German to English Medical Sports / Fitness / Recreation
Context:

"Hier baggern auch die Promis
...
am Samstag, den 29.01 zeigen die VIPs bei einem Promi-Turnier mit anschließendem Konzert, ob sie die Kunst des Baggerns beherrschen."

Re. beach volleyball. I suspect this is a specific beach volleyball term that has nothing to do with the ordinary usage of "baggern" i.e. chat up.

* Sentence or paragraph where the term occurs: See examples above
* Document type: Newsletter
* Target audience: Trade fair visitors
* Country and dialect: Germany (no dialect)
Proposed translations (English)
5 +1 to forearm pass
3 +1 bump
3 volley
2 dig

Discussion

David Williams (asker) Jan 25, 2011:
I am considering using 2 terms "Where the stars hang out"
for the title, and
"Come and see how well they can do the forearm pass!"
for the subordinate clause below in the text it.
adamgajlewicz Jan 24, 2011:
We are perfectly aware of the latent ambiguity.... forearm, forearm forklift, bumping and digging are intrinsically present in the proposed options.....
British Diana Jan 24, 2011:
Ist es nicht doppeldeutig - denn bei dem Konzert und danach wollen die VIPs auch "baggern" im anderen Sinn!
