designated building area/land Explanation: not really sure that there isn't a better term What are the reasons for your support or objection? The site is an area of ancient woodland and its use for housing would involve a significant loss of trees and wildlife and would diminish its amenity value and considerably change the character of this corner of the village. It is important to maintain all areas of broadleaved woodland for the biodiversity that such woodland supports. This development would be outside the designated building line and would extend the urban area beyond the recognised limits. The Council has made adequate provision under the proposed LDF to meet the housing requirements to 2016 and therefore any further development of greenfield sites for housing it unnecessary and inappropriate. http://consult.horsham.gov.uk/portal/planning/adsbc/adsbc1?&... To achieve high volumes of affordable homes planning legislation needs to be revised to allow development on 'designated building land' Current legislation designed to in-fill brown field sites called 'previously developed land' has done its job during the property boom.... http://www.insidehousing.co.uk/london-build-targets-threaten... A neighbour of mine wanted to build a house in his garden but the planning officers were against it because the area where we live is now outside the designated building area for our town. He put in for planning permission, which then went to the monthly council meeting. http://www.selfbuild.co.uk/planning permission.htm |

developable area Explanation: I initially baulked at the horrible word "developable" but this is the term that seems to fit your context and that is used widely in British web sites. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 hrs (2011-01-22 16:13:25 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- http://www.glasgow.gov.uk/en/Business/CityPlan/Part3_DevPol_... Lower densities will, generally, be appropriate, however, in the Outer Urban Area, where: i). Sites with base accessibility may be developed to a maximum of 50 DPH. ii). Sites with high accessibility may be developed within a range of 20-75 DPH (see also A(iii) above). iii). Sites with a net *developable area* greater than 1.5 hectares and less than 5.0 hectares should be developed with a mix of house types. The majority of the site area should be non-flatted and the overall density should not exceed 50 DPH, regardless of accessibility. Residential Zoning Explanation: I believe this to be the key term for Zona edificabile. All areas(surroundings) that have been approved/chosen for residential construction. With 540,000 or 23% being outside the Residential Zoning. Example sentence(s):
