obtener un amplio apoyo Explanation: "secure" puede significar "asegurar", pero tiene también el sentido de "obtener", y esto es lo que significa aquí: "secure 2. succeed in obtaining (something), especially with difficulty: the division secured a major contract http://oxforddictionaries.com/view/entry/m_en_gb0748700#m_en... "Mandate", en este contexto, quiere decir autoridad, basado en un amplio apoyo. Literalmente, en una sociedad democrática, se refiere a la autoridad del gobierno para llevar a cabo su programa por haber ganado las elecciones: "2 the authority to carry out a policy, regarded as given by the electorate to a party or candidate that wins an election: he called an election to seek a mandate for his policies" http://oxforddictionaries.com/view/entry/m_en_gb0496630#m_en... "Mandato", en castellano, tiene un sentido similar: "Encargo o representación que por la elección se confiere a los diputados, concejales, etc." http://buscon.rae.es/draeI/SrvltGUIBusUsual?TIPO_HTML=2&TIPO... Sin embargo, en el caso de una ONG, no se trata literalmente de un mandato. La expresión "secure a mandate" es muy frecuente en inglés (es un tópico periodístico), y se presta a un uso no literal, como en este caso aquí; pero me parece que "mandato" no funciona tan bien en este contexto. Por eso, me parece preferible "amplio apoyo", que es lo que significa en realidad. |
