From what I saw in the KudoZ glossary, I thought this might be "money market call funds" but I searched that using Google and didn't get a single hit.

instant access funds

No over confident because I'm out of my area of direct experience here, but "instant access accounts" led me to this.

"Call Money represents instant access funds held with the Bank of Scotland and Abbey National plc. The return on these accounts is base rate and in the current climate, where this represents a favourable return, we have maximized the use of these accounts." http://www.mpa.gov.uk/committees/x-f/2002/021114/07/

sight account funds

This exactly replicates the Spanish, and fits the context of mortgage financing (see below). Trying to fund mortgages out of call money would have led to the system collapsing even sooner than it did.

Mortgage lenders fund their mortgage from a wide variety of sources and using a number of methods at the European level. Funding effectively means where the lenders themselves obtain the money which they then lend to consumers in the form of a mortgage loan. The dominant funding mechanism in Europe remains deposits which consumers place with banks as savings or in current accounts. The difficulty with funding mortgage loans with deposits is that deposits are typically short term liabilities whereas mortgage loans are more long term assets. Deposits are also typically offered at variable rates which can limit or increase the cost for lenders to provide long term fixed rate products. Covered bonds also have a long history as a source of funds for mortgage lenders especially in Germany and Denmark, but increasingly in other countries such as Spain, France, UK, Sweden and Netherlands.
