English term

A.I.Smidt vs. A.I. Smidt

English Art/Literary General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
Dear colleagues,

Should I leave a space between initials and a last name of a person? I need British usage (if it's different from US). Thank you!

agree Maja Basara : There should after both initials. So it's A. I. Smidt.

agree kamilw : Surely! Whether there's a space between initials or not, I guess both ways are ok, just stick to one convention in the whole text.

agree Alexandra Taggart : Shmidt. You could write something you know, it's not fair.Though, your research, I must admit, is s-super.

agree Suzan Hamer : Chicago Manual of Style: 8.6 Names and initials of persons, real or fictitious, are capitalized. The space between initials should be the same as the space between the last initial and the name, except when initials are used alone, with or without periods
