Italian to English Law/Patents Law (general) criminal case - interroga

I have already translated this in some sense - but possibly not the right sense! Would appreciate the opinion of others as to how to translate this.
Context is the beginning of question by the Prosecutor in preliminary investigations. It is stated that the suspect was summoned by telephone by his counsel 'i quali hanno rinunciato ai prescritti termini. Si da altresi atto che la difesa dichiara di *rinunciare alla sospensione feriale dei termini*."
Waives the summer adjournment of the deadline/period?
I haven't come across this before - is this a matter of asking for the proceedings to continue so as to minimise costs? All help greatly appreciated.
