French term or phrase: dénombrer une collection
Good morning!

I am still translating a primary school child's report and this phrase comes under the heading "Connaissances des nombres entiers naturels (0 à 1000)

Je sais dénombrer une collection

Je sais ranger les nombres.

Je sais situer un nombre sur une droite numérique.

Thank you!

I think 'I know how to count groups of objects' would fit.

It seems that the symbols are usually be grouped together in 5's, 10's, etc.

Hello,

Liz, I'm afraid you need to put these kind of sentences in more pedagogical language. And I'm surprised by the number of agrees that people are getting for their answers. There is specific language for these kinds of questions, despite the fact that it's as if a child is asking them (which he is not). It's for the parents in a report card or something like that.

"Dénombrer consiste à déterminer la quantité d'éléments d'un ensemble d'éléments par le biais du comptage. Dénombrer un ensemble d'éléments revient donc à les compter et à les nombrer. Ainsi, un enfant, par exemple, sait dénombrer lorsque la technique du comptage est acquise et qu'il sait que le dernier mot employé représente la quantité des éléments comptés."
