Schuhe: Dieses Thema verlangt spitze Formen, die teilweise wie abgeschnitten wirken. Auffallend dabei sind die hohen Spitzensprengungen.
It's a fashion text, and they are talking about shoes, obviously. "Die Spitze" - the tip of the shoe. But what does the "Sprengungen" part mean? Or am I totally off here?

I think this might be referring to the latest fashion of very pointed toes, and the fact that they are very restricting, apply a lot of pressure to the toes.
Perhaps Sprengung could be referring to flexibility / give in the leather / material, to allow room for the toes to breath, move, spread out etc
