Italian to English Law/Patents Law (general)
Does this really mean "by cross-examination" (sounds a bit dramatic to me)?

In the following:

Le spese necessarie all'esecuzione degli interventi di ricondizionamento sono stimate dal Locatore, in contraddittorio con il Locatorio, dopo la restituzione della TBM (name of machine) allo stabilimento di ....

See a number of previous KudoZ entries for "contraddittorio". They just discuss it together and agree. Disagreement and cross-examination are two separate meanings of the word which don't apply here. HTH :).

that's the meaning... they don't agree with the estimation of the other party

I have already translated this agreement from Italian to English for the leasing of this Tunnel Boring Machine ! This is just a fancy way of saying "discussing/negotiating".
