English term
initial oxygenation of arachidonic acid by cyclooxygenase
English to Spanish
Medical
Medical: Dentistry
pain management
I am translating a text book about pain management in dentistry into Spanish. I am having some difficulty with the part of the following sentence in quotation marks.
Only recently has the probable mechanism of action of salicylates been identified as the inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis, which "blocks the initial oxygenation of arachidonic acid by cyclooxygenase."
Please let me know what you think, thanks.
If you need more context here is the whole paragraph:
Salicylates, in the form of willow bark, were introduced to medicine as analgesics in 1763. Salicyclic acid was derived from salicin, the active agent in willow bark, in 1838. The synthesis of acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) eventually resulted in the displacement of salicylate derived from naturally occurring sources ( Box 7–1 ). Since its introduction in 1899, aspirin has been widely used for its analgesic, antipyretic, antiinflammatory, and antirheumatic effects. Only recently has the probable mechanism of action of salicylates been identified as the inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis, which "blocks the initial oxygenation of arachidonic acid by cyclooxygenase."

Print Error: Salicylic acid (from Latin Salix, willow tree, from the bark of which the substance is obtained) is a beta hydroxy acid... (Salicyclic)
Grammar error: Only recently (has) the probable mechanism of action of salicylates (has) been identified…
This is the best way I pulled out man, hope that helps.
