Both “L” and “l” (upper- and lowercase letter L) are correct symbols for the liter, but the uppercase version is preferred to avoid confusion with the digit 1. A script small L is occasionally seen but is not correct.

Reference information:
There is a BIG difference between "ml" (or "mL"), which means millilitre (i.e. one thousandth of a litre), and "Ml" (or "ML"), which means megalitre (i.e. a million litres). If you are translating a scientific text, that sort of mistake can ruin your credibility.
