Pero de nueva cuenta, lo anterior provoca posiciones encontradas. Por un lado, están aquellos – los doctorantes obviamente como primeros afectados – que sostienen que los CDD es una forma de enmascarar la PRECARIZACIÓN del trabajo de los doctores. En primer lugar, porque la cantidad de dinero asignada es mínima si se compara con los gastos que cotidianamente tiene que hacer una persona, que aumentan si tiene compromisos familiares. El financiamiento se reduce cuando se aúnan los desembolsos por concepto de materiales de trabajo, equipo, bibliografía y movilidad académica, esto es, presentación de los avances de la tesis en coloquios, congresos o seminarios dentro y fuera del país. En segundo lugar, como los doctorantes no son funcionarios aunque sean investigadores, el tiempo que ocupan en el programa y la elaboración de la tesis, que como vimos en el apartado anterior usualmente significa varios años, no es valorado al momento del retiro, ni cotiza para muchas prestaciones sociales.
