German term

Gästeglas

Non-PRO German to English Other Wine / Oenology / Viticulture cocktails
another glass name has me stumped!

In this recipe, you apparently serve the drink in a chilled silver tumbler but prepare it in a Gästeglas.

Preparation: Muddle fruit and sugar with a smooth pestle, add the remaining ingredients. Fill with crushed ice and shake gently.

It appears that a Gästeglas is another name for the glass in which the drink is served - this is the case for cocktails/mixers with ingredients which are easily mixed and served with ice (as opposed to shaken with ice and strained).

agree LP Schumacher : Yes, the "serving glass" (as opposed to the mixing glass) http://www.novusvinum.com/spirits/tequila/features/margarita...
