Greek to English Medical Medical (general) to do with loss of consciousness
On a patient consent form for a clinical trial, listing the sort of conditions, etc., that can make a person more susceptible to epileptic seizures:

το τραύμα της κεφαλής με απώλεια της συνείδησης (διάλειψη)

head injury with loss of consciousness - "blacking out"?
Proposed translations (English)

. Αυτό ακριβώς εννοώ, Rachel. Προσπαθούν να επεξηγήσουν έναν όρο (απώλεια συνείδησης), ο οποίος σε ουδεμία περίπτωση δεν μπορεί να παρερμηνευθεί, με έναν όρο (διάλειψη) αμφίβολης τόσο ιατρικής όσο και συντακτικής εγκυρότητας... Εννοώ, διάλειψη τίνος, διάλειψη ποιου; Διάλειψη μνήμης μήπως;

As it's a patient consent/info. form, I think they're just clarifying and trying to avoid any ambiguity in the term used (απώλεια της συνείδησης)

loss of consciousness your scepticism was justified. What is meant here is the loss of consciousness, (or falling in a faint which sounds less medical).I thus correct my initial suggestion accordingly.

unconsciousness, falling in a faint hi Rachel, your latest remark is not helpful at all. Why dont you quote the full sentence ? How are we to know whether you are looking search unconsciousness or loss of memory. In any case the presence of the sord διάλειψη makes it clear that a temporary state, either of unconsciousnes of loss of memory, is involved.
