neutral  Thomas Johansson: Sounds like a lady who works with mining. http://www.bluegrass.nu/page04.html suggests the mine is just where she 'lives'. "Mine lady" would be better.

I think Zanne is on the right track. It seems the spirit associated with the mines is "gruvfrun" - she seem to be a mine sprite or nymph - I have seen another word used "gruvrået", see attched site about bertroll och gruvfrun.

And sorry again - I actually have posted the same site as he has! I would just translate a "rå" to be a sprite - ???
