French term
Traction
French to English
Bus/Financial
Transport / Transportation / Shipping
Hi there,
I'm trying to find a translation for this word and can't find it anywhere, it appears in a table for transport expenses for a company, which are split into "cammionage", "traction (in)" and "Transport (out)". It's the only time this is mentioned in the whole report (the rest is about a new management system that has nothing to do with transport) and I'm a bit lost... any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

network of drivers
Hello,
It seems that the "Traction" is the network of drivers available to drive at some trucking outfit. I'm not sure sure, but that's why I believe is the case here.
traction = filière des conducteurs (routiers)
I hope this helps.

transport
I'll leave you to peruse the following and decide which term suits your context best (medium/long-haul one-way transport?).
I associate the word with the "messageries parisiennes", the people who deliver newspapers to outlets nationwide. I wonder if the term "traction" was used because they once used Citroën "tractions avant" as vehicles. Certainly in the 1980s they used a lot of "break DS Citroën", some of which had double axles at the back to take the loads.
