Another option, which might be especially appropriate if the "solos y solas" is the title.

It all depends on the CONTEXT!!

As Baligh pointed out, "soltero/a" is more common in Spanish for single/unmarried. Perhaps "solo/a" has been used to emphasise the fact that these are lonely people... But, without context....
