Italian term

Funzionario della Motorizzazione Civile

Italian to English Law/Patents Law (general) Driver's License
I'm translating a Driving Licence. I have often seen on American Driver's Licences the sentence "Commissioner of Motor Vehicle". Is it the same position of an Italian "Funzionario", or would it be better to use another word?

Officer of Traffic Control Authority

A plain suggestion if you don't need a term for a definite country
Peer comment(s):

neutral Lise Leavitt : I think that term is used for Air Control only? Not positive though :) - I see, as said I am not sure, but if you google it, it comes out referred to Air Control.

It's the translation for motorizzazione civile given by a bilingual dictionary/I see, but a give a generic term as I don't Know what country is for. E.G. in australia it's roads and traffic authority
