German term or phrase: Geldstrafe v. Geldbuße

A request for tenders states that bidders must not have been subject to "Verurteilung [for violation of laws relating to employment] zu einer Freihheitsstrafe von mehr als drei Monaten oder einer Geldstrafe von mehr als Tagessätzen oder Belegung mit einer Geldbuße von wenigstens 2.500 €." Even though both words (Geldstrafe and Geldbuße) would seem to mean "fine" the difference in the penalties suggests a difference in meaning. I would particularly appreciate enlightenment on what the penalty of "90 Tagesätze" refers to. Daily installments, but of what?

Explanation:
Assuming @xxxhazmatgerman and @andres-larsen are correct (the latter is supported by the link below), the answer would not be "monetary penalty or fine" because that implies that these terms are interchangable, which apparently they are not.

The answer would be "Geldstrafe = monetary fine", and "Geldbuße = monetary penalty".
