English translation: sheet of paper

French to English translations [PRO]
Art/Literary - Paper / Paper Manufacturing / Teenage historical novel
French term or phrase: une feuille
Obviously I know what "une feuille" means in general terms, but I'm not sure whether it's likely to be paper here, or a scrap of rag, or even a leaf. Carla is a dressmaker at the court of Louis XIV but she has travelled to the home of a poor family as her employer wants her to make winter clothes for them. Would she have had access to paper at this date? Thanks for any help.

"Elle s'empressa ensuite de mesurer la hauteur, le tour de taille et la carrure des autres membres de la famille. Aur fur et à mesure, a l'aide d'une mine de plomb, elle notait tour sur **une feuille**."
