lacking fullness/flat

I think these would both be regarded as negative facial characteristics - you might need to play around with the sentence a bit to get 'flat' to fit, perhaps you could say 'thinness, leading to long, flat faces' or something.

with little expression

relieves could also be the planes of the face. I prefer expression in this case.
Peer comment(s):

neutral Erin DeBell : I thought the same thing, but they use "falta de expresión" in the next phrase, so I think you have to differentiate (or consolidate). :)

with few wrinkles?

Is this better?
Note from asker:
No, fewer wrinkles - that would be a fine thing! It is something negative we need here not positive. Wrinkles = arrugas o lineas.

lacking form / accentuation

...with little form
...poorly accentuated

Where accentuation refers to the facial curves and the prominence of the features that draw one's attention to the facial form. The construction of this sentance makes the wording tough. Just an idea to get the ball rolling!

Lisa, I see what you mean. I don't think it deals as much with the prominence of the actual features (nose, for example), as the general form of the face. In the opposite case, a fleshy, full face would be well-formed and defined. In this text they are describing the opposite, a face that is not accentuated by a healthy dose of flesh.

relieve m
1 Geography relief
2 Arte relief
en relieve, raised o embossed
3 (en importancia o valor) prominence, importance ♦ LOC: poner de relieve, to underline, highlight

I don't see a definition here that directly applies to this context, but the general idea I get is a lack of form and accentuation. Poorly contoured is also good.

Maybe there's a better way to express this???
Note from asker:
But wouldn't the features be more prominent if the face was bony and thin? i.e cheekbones/nose etc?
Peer comment(s):

agree Noni Gilbert Riley : With few prominent features? We're both chewing on the same bone! I like "lacking accentuation"
