E' una biografia di uno scultore. Mi potete aiutare a capire che cos'é il "flex" in questo contesto (forse un braccio flessibile??):

a bit of a wild guess but it could refer to a flex-hone, used to smooth/polish metal surfaces - www.flexhone.com

Just a thought; there is a German company called Flex that makes grinders, polishers and sanding machines. It could refer to one of their tools. Maybe in the field, the brand name Flex has become the name of the tool much like Hoover has now come to mean a vacuum cleaner .
