En las páginas de los periódicos, los dias jueves, los aficionados al Turf –Deporte de los Reyes- consultaban los pronósticos y la opción de cada uno de los participantes en cada carrera programada por el Jockey Club, los sábados, domingos y dias festivos del año, disputándose premios especiales en homenaje a personajes ilustres de la Nación, fechas festivas y recordatorios a estampas insignes del Turf que denominaban los Clasicos. Así también, se programaban anualmente carreras para elegir a los mejores potrillos y potrancas de las nuevas generaciones (Polla de Potrillos, Polla de Potrancas,
Derby Nacional, Ortíz de Zevallos, Independencia, Presidencia de la República) que entitulaban entre ellas a la primera –segunda y tercera coronas; todas ellas servirían de aliciente para los propietarios, preparadores y jinetes en competencia permanente año tras año, además de repartir altos premios dinerarios a los ganadores.
