German term

1b-Lage

German to English Bus/Financial Real Estate
This term comes up in an interview with a financial investor, and I have spent ages trying to find the American equivalent, using all sorts of variations in Google to no avail - very frustrating! A reference to a good bi-lingual real estate glossary would also be appreciated.
Context:
"Wie auch andere Investoren glauben wir aber, dass gute 1a, *1b-Lagen* eine gewisse Unterbewertung derzeit haben."
1a-Lage is "prime location", which is a term most Americans have heard at some point in their lives, but not *1b-Lage*!
I have only found Class A, Class B, etc. in US terminology, but that classification refers to the building itself, not to the location, as far as I can tell. "Secondary" would be the logical progression, but apparently is not used in this connection.
TIA for your help.

Discussion

DC Josephs Feb 27, 2008:
@ Alec: I'd be careful with "secondary" here, because it is still in the "1" category.
Steffen Walter Feb 27, 2008:
http://www.stalys.de/data/wa.htm might be helpful (but does not provide a translation of "1b-Lage").
Woodstock (X) (asker) Feb 27, 2008:
In the meantime I did a quick Google search using "1b site" and had a few hits (also used "tier 1b"), but not enough to absolutely convince me. If someone could verify this, I would be very grateful, as I am running out of time and can't do a thorough search.
alec_in_France Feb 27, 2008:
Secondary (retail location) is fine in British English (with 1b in brackets to make absolutely clear) but not for US apparently

sub prime location

or is this too negative in its connotations?

second-tier location
Peer comment(s):

neutral Steffen Walter : I wouldn't use this, given the recent sub-prime lending crisis.

neutral DC Josephs : I have to agree w/ Steffen; plus I don't think 1b is quite as negative as all that.
