Chinese term

搏击商海

Chinese to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general)
I know this means something like "launched himself into the sea of commerce" or "wrestled with the sea of commerce." It's talking about a guy who began a business. But, can anyone think of a better way to say this in English? Something less wordy and more 'normal'?

Thanks in andvance ~

to bravely strive for success in his business

The phrase is just a suggestion as a starting point. The source phrase itself is quite colorful and it is up to you to adjust the tone and vocabulary accordingly to match the context of your text.

"Strive" or "forge on" captures the essence of the term <搏击>
Example sentence:

He bravely strived for success in his field and made it to where he is today.
