Italian term

ateneo esterno

Italian to English Law/Patents Law (general)
In un certificato di laurea, in elenco di vari esami, c'è la dicitura "sostenuto presso: ateneo esterno".

Semplicemente "Other University", oppure "External", oppure?

Discussion

Non-ProZ.com Jul 2, 2007:
Sì, ho scelto university, proprio per il discorso che facevo prima, in Italia ateneo sta per università.

Grazie!
James (Jim) Davis Jul 2, 2007:
I would go for other university. Ateneo is definitely university level (politecnico), and if they really wanted to specify they would put which one.
Non-ProZ.com Jul 2, 2007:
Ok; other university names have been specified, but there is only "ateneo esterno" referred to 3 exams, w/o specifying the name of the institution..
James (Jim) Davis Jul 2, 2007:
Other if it is clear which one all the others were from.

Branch campus OR external units of study

As they have call them in the USA. For example the NMSU (New Mexico State University) has branches outside of Las Cruces, where the main campus is.
External units of study = students may take a limited number of postgraduate coursework units....or at other universities.

another institution

This makes the most sense to me, and does not specify whether a university, technical school, or other.
Note from asker:
I agree w the term institution, but in Italy when we say "ateneo" we usually intend università

off-campus college/university branch

Da quello che capisco dal contesto si dovrebbe trattare di una sede dislocata dell'ateneo
