Hello everyone,
I'm working on a speech for a friend, and... typically... it has been done quickly, quickly. quickly (!) Needless to say I did not want to do it, but I got stuck with it anyway. (Sorry for the rant!)
The speech is on Europe and what it means to be "European" etc. It starts off with:
"nessuno delgi scrittori presente oggi avebbe trovato alcuna difficolta nel creare una memoria emotiva dell'europa".
My problem is with this "memoria emotiva"...! I can't seem to find anything online, or at least nothing that does not sound like a bad translation. I have found "emotional memory" but I don't like it.
Anyone have any ideas?

| Thank you :) Here is a bit more context in case anyone feels inspired: Quando ho cominciato a preparare questo breve discorso ho subito capito che quasi nessuno degli autori qui invitati avrebbe trovato molta difficoltà a fare una memoria sentimentale dell’Europa nonostante l’età, e forse lo scopo dell’invito era proprio questo: fare una memoria sentimentale. E certamente non sarebbe stato molto difficile farla, poiché tutti noi ci dedichiamo a scrivere e basterebbe metterci a parlare degli autori europei che amiamo e che ci hanno influenzato. Potremmo pure fare una memoria sentimentale delle città che abbiamo visitato. E perfino degli amanti che abbiamo avuto. E forse, anche solo per un attimo, tutti vivremmo sotto l’euforia immediata di saperci europei. |

"Sentimental recollections of Europe" - this is what immediately came to mind.
Although, "Memoirs of Europe" could be a better option as it encompasses the "sentimental" aspect to removes the need to add preceding words such as "sentimental" or "emotional" - although I should also point out that this is also the name of a book and the term is not so much in use now as it was a few hundred years ago!!
