And "fly case" seems to be related to fly fishing, not parts of a boat. Ergo, "fly cover".

I learned the meaning of "funda" many years ago, from "la funda para la máquina de escribir"/typewriter cover (how many years has THAT been?....).

How do you know "funda" = cover?? I've never come across this in English.

As for "fly" - absolutely no idea. The only thing that comes to mind [and google searches] is fly fishing!
