English term

from the height of my age

English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature
London – as well as Lermontov and many others – is far from being a ‘juvenile’ author. From the height of my age I’ll say this: studying Lermontov at school is like teaching quantum physics in kindergarten.

Dear native English speakers!
Please advise if it's OK to put the phrase this way. Is the idea clear?
Probably 'From the perspective of my age (or my years)' would be better?
Thank you.
P.S. This is an essay.

Louise Mawbey Apr 25, 2007:
I agree 100% with Armorel
Armorel Young Apr 25, 2007:
I'm just going to politely express a contrasting view to Melzie's - for me "from the height of my age" doesn't work at all, because there is no sense in which height comes with age (wisdom/experience maybe, but not height).
Andrew Vdovin (asker) Apr 25, 2007:
They are native English speakers all right. American NES's.
Melzie Apr 25, 2007:
It's fine, depending on your target audience. Are they native English speakers or not?

I really like this option, as well as the other in the brackets as an alternative, but the first says it perfectly.

from the experiance i gained through my age

as a person`s age grows his wisdom level increases due to experiance
Example sentence:

From the height of my age i think my hunch proves right

Peer comment(s):

neutral Armorel Young : with increasing age, most people learn to spell "experience" correctly
