French term

rhodoïde

French to English Tech/Engineering Printing & Publishing Interactive book
I'm translating a series of interactive books for children.
In one of them, they use "rhodoïdes" or "rhodos" for short.
I know what this is - its a printed plastic sheet that allows you to first hide and then reveal certain content on a page, but unfortunately I have no idea what it is called in english.

An example of such books can be found in the Gallimard "mes premières découvertes" series, which is famous for its "cocinelle"/"ladybird" title. (Is this a Doring Kindersly book in English?)

Would anyone be able to help with this word?

(acetate) overlay

I really don't know the English term but I used to use acetate sheets in my (short-lived) teaching days... according to my Larousse, "rhodoid" is made using acetate though I'm not sure if yours are made wholly of that. Here's one example that *seems* to be along the same lines:

"Synopsis:
Carle is it again with astonishingly beautiful collage illustrations and a story that introduces the very young to the wonders of aquatic life and some very special daddies. A "hide-and-seek" feature with acetate overlays adds a colorful surprise. Ideal for Father's Day. Full color."

agree Ritu Bhanot : All teachers know that :-) , though transparency is commonly used. Reminds me of my CELTA days.

Yes, in fact the small amount of teaching I did was part of a CELTA course! Haven't done much since, sadly... I just wasn't sure if there was something else for the hide/reveal feature

Transparency

Transparencies are used often in presentations. These are plastic sheets on which you either print or photocopy printed matter. Transparencies are used with Projectors (for teaching as well as presentations).

Also known as Acetate/ Acetate Sheet. These days, not used much as there are projectors that can project directly from computer and presentations are made on powerpoint or some other similar software.
