English term

redining seat / chair

English Marketing Furniture / Household Appliances
In fact, this was asked in English to Turkish Kudoz and was decided to be a typo, the intended word being "reclining." However, there seem to be some web pages with many occurrences of this word; see, for example: http://www.amdbproperties.com/harpers/allPackages.asp?id=EU&...
(I am aware of the poor linguistic quality of this website, though.)

So, is there any such word in English as "redining" or "to redine" that has not made it to the dictionaries, yet? Or, does it make any sense for the native speakers of English? (Hopefully, it's not a chair where you sit to dine over and over again. :-)
Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (2): Edith Kelly, David Moore (X)

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Rita I thought it was clear from my question that 1. I couldn't find the term in dictionaries, 2. there were several web references to it, of which I posted one as an example, 3. the issue was at such a point that I needed to ask the opinion of native speakers. But it seems it was not clear enough. I apologize for that and hope that it is clear enough this time. You don't need to post here the most basic resources everyone knows. And I'm not sure how your note fits the function of the 'Ask the Asker' button. Thank you anyway, for your suggestions.
RHELLER Dec 10, 2006:
I did not mean that as a criticism - just giving ideas for resources (www.bartleby.com for U.S. English and www.askoxford.com/ for UK.)
RHELLER Dec 10, 2006:
Online dictionaries have the added advantage of being constantly updated - in real time :-)
Özden Arıkan (asker) Dec 10, 2006:
Thank you for your advice, Rita. But if I asked it here, it means I did check dictionaries before - or would it have to be necessarily an online one?
RHELLER Dec 10, 2006:
If you want to know if an English word exists, check an online dictionary; the quality of this website is not poor - it is horrid. I feel sorry for them if they paid for it.

reclining seat / chair

No, it is *definitely* a typo, very likely an OCR misreading, thus repeated so often.

agree William [Bill] Gray : The OCR argument came immediately to mind for me. It is also probably the reason that the asker finds the word on several websites. I also think the treatment of Rita was a bit hard! KudoZ is ABOUT communication, back and forth! Go Rita!! (and Brie!)
