German term

Außenwicklung

German to English Bus/Financial Transport / Transportation / Shipping Packaging
I'm having problems with the whole sentence here, but particularly this word. The text concerns labelling specifications:

"Haftetiketten aus Papier: weiß gedeckt und vollflächig mit Thermotransferlack bedruckt, auf Rolle, Außenwicklung, Kopf voraus"

I'm also unsure about "gedeckt" and "Kopf voraus" and can't quite picture what this looks like.

Thanks for any help!

outer winding

Ich habe zwar den englischen Ausdruck für "Außenwicklung" nur für elektrische Spulen gefunden. Ich würde sagen, falls kein anderer Fachausdruck existieren sollte, würde ich diesen verwenden.

"Kopf voraus" deutet die Druckrichtung: vom Papierkopf (letterhead) zum Papierfuß (foot), an

Falls bei "gedeckt" kein Tippfehler ist ("gedruckt"), dann würde ich es mit "covered" übersetzen

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "All answers and translations suggested were very helpful and there's really nothing to choose between them - I wish I could award points to you all! Based on the answers I chose "outside winding" in the end (backed up by several labelling websites) - and as "outer winding" comes closest to that it gets my points. But thanks to all!"
