Spanish term

Limpiaron la sangre derramada

Spanish to English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature Short stories
Gracias

Discussion

Refugio Sep 28, 2006:
If you use the word "spilt", be aware that it is not for US English. You could say, "they cleaned up the blood that had drained from the animal" or "the blood they had shed" (but not "the blood shed").
Nicholas Ferreira Sep 28, 2006:

Washed away the spilt blood

Other options.

...bashed/battered the snake furiously, turning it into lumps of twitching flesh.

Yolanda's proposal are also good, but I would definitely use "flesh" instead of "meat".

Re your question to Nicolas, I would say either "stand up" or "rise from your seat".

they washed away the fresh blood

Other options:
- wipe away
- clean up (Yolanda's proposal is also good)

Miladik,
"Get up from your seat" would normally be how you would give an order. Or as Cinnamon says, just "Stand up." "Stand up from..." does not sound good.
