español term

consigan reducir (in context)

español al inglés Medicina Medicina (general) Genetics
En la reestenosis tras la angioplastía, la transferencia de genes que consigan reducir el proceso proliferativo dentro de las células endoteliales de los vasos tratados podría prevenir su reoclusión.

I am OK with all the medical terms I just need to check on how "consigan reducir" is translated here. I can't quite see how this fits in. I have just used "which" for the moment (not really addressing the problem). All help appreciated.

What I have: in restenosis following angioplasty, the transfer of the genes which reduce the proliferative and thrombotic process within the endothelial cells of the treated vessels could prevent its reocclusion.

agree John Speese : I agree, conseguir is one of those words which is often hard to translate exactly in certain contexts, results in (reducing, a reduction) is another possibility.

that succeeds in controlling

This is more a formal expression which I believe fits in better with the tone of your context.
