receipt: a writing acknowledging the receiving of goods or money (Merriam Webster) - EOT

Thank you for your input Adam (and for your original suggestion). Google is a useful tool, but I don't think it's necessarily the be all and end all. I chose this answer because it expresses the concept I need to express in clear and intelligible language.

delivery upon acknowledgment of receipt

My understanding is that one must acknowledge receipt of the delivery by a signing a form. If not, the delivery cannot be made.

Literally, we have "delivery in exchange for signing acknowledgment of receipt slip."

One must acknowledge receipt of delivery in exchange for the actual delivery.

remise = delivery
récépissé = acknowledgment of receipt (slip)

giving in (dossier?) against proof of receipt..

not very well put but that's what I understand - you give in document, they give you back a 'receipt'....

recorded delivery

This is now seemingly called "Recorded Signed For" in the UK as per the link below.
Note from asker:
thank you, but i already have "lettre recommandée avec accusé de réception" in the same paragraph which i think is the equivalent of recorded delivery. so this is something slightly different.
