It could be that "objets" relate to IT data objects (as in Object Oriented) and that the device they manufacture records/logs certain information but again just guessing without more context. "Data logging" gets quite a few google hits.

I can only think that the obvious answer may be the right one. I'm not sure exactly what your context is, but I'm wondering whether the 'protection des objets' is referring to the use of IT equipment in a public setting (museum, exhibition etc), where the keyboard is replaced by a 'dicteur' so that the public don't have to touch (and risk damaging) the equipment.
But the more I think about it, the more stoopid that sounds. ;-)
