fixing and consolidation of the frescoes

From the rest of the context, do you think they are referring to the frescoes being "sealed" as part of the restoration process or actually extracted, grouped, and "placed" somewhere else. You may consider restoration and consolidation as well, but it really depends on the rest of the context. :) Hope I have been some help.
