Hi everyone,
I am translating a patent for the Oil/Petroleum industry. The author uses this word in conjunction with "naphtha". Does anyone know how to translate this word correctly into English?
Here are two sentences where it appears in the original text (asterisks added):
1. A patente norte-americana US 6,238,548 reivindica o reciclo do **corte** 100-180°C da nafta para a região de leito denso, situada no topo do retificador, com ganho de octanagem.
2. O processo para redução do teor de enxofre em uma mistura de hidrocarbonetos, objecto da presente invenção, visa eliminar em parte ou totalmente as desvantagens supracitadas, por intermédio da introdução de um **corte** de nafta pesada oriunda do processo de FCC na seção de reação da referida unidade.
