disagree  Richard Benham: Is there some reason to avoid the obvious? All the Google hits I've checked for "gestion prudentielle" correspond exactly with what is called "prudential management" in English.

agree  DocteurPC: as per GDT also - unless they are talking about the Prudential insurance company

neutral  Sylvia Smith: or maybe "prudent" management

agree  Richard Benham: Actually looking at rather than counting Google hits, I get the impression "gestion prudentielle" is just what I understand by "prudential management". It is a technical term, and should not be confused with mere "prudent management".

discretionary management

Explanation:
Maybe "discretionary" is a little more comprehensive than "prudential" since it also includes some diplomacy. .

disagree  Richard Benham: Almost the opposite of the intended meaning. "Discretionary" means you can do what you @#$% well like; "prudential" means you have to obey certain rules.//Not what "discretionary" means--it's not an elaborate substitute for "discreet".

-> Hi there Richard. Thanks for your comment. As long as you are discreet you don't have the luxury to @#$% do what you want to. That's what I understand from "discretion" and "discretionary." Dicretion would oblige the rules to be abided by rationally.
