Dear fellow colleagues,

I have a very silly question, actually.

I have this song in mind - I think it's from sometime back in the eighties, though I may be wrong - for over a week now, and I simply cannot think of the name or the artist of the song.

If anyone could help, I'd be more than thankful - this is starting to frustrate me..lol

The only part of the song I can remember is:

"I work hard for my money..(nanana)

I can't remember anymore. It might not even be right, they way I remember it. It's been a while - in fact, I ask myself, was I even born then? ...

Many thanks in advance for any replies!

Best regards from Germany!

Were you born?

By the way, the lyrics are:

She works hard for the money
so hard for it honey
she works hard for the money
so you better treat her right

She works hard for the money
so hard for it honey
she works hard for the money
so you better treat her right

Onetta there in the corner stand
and wonders where she is and
it's strange to her
some people seem to have everything

She works hard for the money
so hard for it honey
she works hard for the money
so you better treat her right

Onetta there in the corner stand
and wonders where she is and
it's strange to her
some people seem to have everything

Nine a.m. on the hour hand
and she's waiting for the bell
and she's looking real pretty
just wait for her clientele

She works hard for the money
so hard for it honey
she works hard for the money
so you better treat her right

She works hard for the money
so hard for it honey
she works hard for the money
so you better treat her right

Twenty five years have
come and gone
and she' seen a lot of tears
of the ones who come in
they really seem to need her there

It's a sacrifice working day to day
for little money just tips for pay
But it's worth it all
just to hear them say that they care

She works hard for the money
so hard for it honey
she works hard for the money
so you better treat her right

She already knows
she's seen her bad times
she already knows
these are the good times

She'll never sell out
she never will
not for a dollar bill
she works hard

She works hard for the money
so hard for it honey
she works hard for the money
so you better treat her right

She works hard for the money
so hard for it honey
she works hard for the money
so you better treat her right

She works hard for the money
so hard for it honey
she works hard for the money
so you better treat her right

Have fun!

Donna Summer - She Works Hard For The Money

She works hard for the money. So hard for it, honey.
She works hard for the money. So you better treat her right.

Onetta here in the corner stand and wonders where she is.
And it's strange to her, some people seem to have everything.
9 am on the hour hand and she's waiting for the bell.
And she's looking real pretty. She's waiting for her clientele.

That's the one! Oct 14, 2003

Thanks you all, very, very, VERY much! You cannot imagine how much it bugged me...having this song in my head all the time!

I dug out Dad's old records and voilà - there it is!

And you're right, Alexandra, we do work hard, indeed!

Natalie, I was born 1979, which means, I was 4. Wow, talk about a good tune. It's almost like it's been burned into my memory

Again, thank you

Steffen is right Oct 15, 2003

You are absolutely right Steffen, it is Donna Summer, what a mistake! I can't even use being 4 years old as an excuse, because unfortunately, I wasn't...
